Comparing training methods: in the classroom and beyond the classroom

Training and Learning Processes
Target audience
Training or Personnel Service Managers and Specialists, Teacher-Trainers and Designers, Classroom Tutors.
Duration
2-day in-person course or webinar mode.

Training is now required to be more effective in developing the human capital present in the company: organizations demand short-term learning outcomes, measurable returns on training investments and effective contributions to the solution of management problems.
This implies the need to rethink and innovate the types, pathways and methodologies by which people learn and also a reflection on the ways in which the different actors are involved in the main stages of training.
Through theoretical insights and experiential stimuli, the course proposes to compare the different methodological options available in the training market today.

Methodology

The course is characterized by its highly practical and experiential approach. Different training methods will be analyzed from a theoretical and practical point of view, contextualizing their use in relation to the objectives, content, target audience and cultural variables of the company in which the training intervention is implemented. The choice of training methods to be actively experimented with over the two days will be made together with the participants in light of their specific learning consolidation needs.

Goals

  • Strengthen awareness of the strategic importance of training as a lever for personnel management and development
  • Increase the ability to manage and design effective training initiatives consistent with individual and organizational training needs
  • To provide a clear framework on the main training modalities that can be activated in organizations in terms of objectives and content, prerequisites of training recipients, type of learning to be achieved
  • To stimulate the ability to critically read and analyze training offerings in order to improve the process of acquiring services and products on the training market
  • Increase participants’ abilities to promote and disseminate innovation processes in the organization.

Program

  • Promoting and facilitating learning within the organization: new opportunities in training design
  • How to choose the most effective training type when constructing a training project
  • Classroom training: when and why to use it, with what attentions and cautions, what are the presiding factors, how to use teaching methodologies (exercises, roleplay, lectures, etc.)
  • Training beyond the classroom: outdoor, corporate theater, distance learning tools
  • Field training: coaching, mentoring, on-the-job training, informal learning, audits, research and projects.
