The Statistical Process Analysis for Operational Excellence

Lean Thinking and Lean Six Sigma

This course offers basic training for those involved in Operation and Analysis of business data.
The training involves the meaningful use of statistical concepts, methods, and tools to perform data analysis with accuracy and reliability. The pragmatic approach, enhanced by multiple exercises, will enable participants to apply what they learn immediately in their own work context to improve performance.
Best practices and examples of application from different organizations will be illustrated.

Target audience

Everyone, regardless of level, involved in Operation and Data Analysis.

Methodology

Illustration and discussion, exercises. The course includes the use of Minitab statistical software.

Duration

5-day in-person course or webinar mode.

Goals

  • Learning the concepts of descriptive statistics and inferential statistics
  • Know the tools for measuring process performance
  • Learn the methods and statistical tools for performing data analysis
  • Carry out statistical analysis of data with the use of statistical tools (Minitab)
  • Measuring the Capacity of a Process
  • Apply Control Cards to check whether or not a process is in statistical control.

Program

  • Basic statistics and inferential statistics
  • Series, most commonly used types of distributions, and basic concepts of probability calculations
  • Main types of measurement and analysis of statistical variables and their interdependencies:
    – correlation
    – linear regression
    – summary graphical representations
  • Central tendency variables: fashion, mean, median
  • Scatter variables: standard deviation and variance
  • Hypothesis testing
  • MSA
  • Minitab: overviewdescriptive statistics, graphical representations, exercises, worksheets, hypothesis testing, regression, workshops
  • Process Capability Analysis (PCA):
    – analysis of the capability of a process to assess the conformity of the outputs produced with the specifications
    – capability of a process in amplitude (Cp) and in position (Cpk)
  • Control cards:
    – Objectives and uses of the tool for dynamic analysis and objective verification of the variability of a process over time
    – Pervariable control cards (continuous data): X-R cards, X-S cards and I – MR
    – Attribute control cards (discrete data) for calculating defective units and defects per unit: NP.P cards. C and U.
