Training trainers in the phygital context

Training and Learning Processes
Target audience
All those who conduct classroom training as in-person or distance teachers, co-teachers, designers, tutors.
Duration
2-day in-person course or webinar mode.

In-house trainers are an asset and an opportunity for organizations especially in the current scenario where learning plays an increasingly strategic role.
In today’s scenario, the trainer faces complex challenges because training takes place in increasingly blended modes, and for it to be truly effective, it is important to carefully preside over the different aspects that distinguish in-person, distance or blended training modules.
In increasingly phygital contexts, the trainer must be able to design an in-presence or virtual course, use different teaching methodologies, communicate with participants by choosing the most appropriate channels and tools, manage physical or virtual spaces, and deal with group dynamics, mastering not only the content but all phases of the learning process, in whatever mode it takes place. The training course is designed to best develop these skills.

Methodology

The course is conceived and designed as an action and experimentation workshop to delve into the dynamics of blended classrooms. Participants will be asked to choose some design documents or other business materials pertaining to training courses, which will form the basis for carrying out the teaching simulations.

Goals

  • Knowing the principles of adult learning from neuroscience
  • Experiment with the design of in-person and virtual training interventions
  • Acquire skills in managing communication and participant engagement: effective use of real/virtual space of timing, voice, and body in in-person and distance training
  • Analyze classroom dynamics in presence and at a distance
  • Acquire a method for handling participant interventions and objections.
  • Acquire tools to foster effective learning.

Program

The trainer as designer

  • Principles of neuroscience for understanding learning mechanisms
  • Objectives of training courses and strategies for understanding the target audience
  • Macro and micro design
  • Setting of the virtual and physical classroom
  • The main teaching methodologies and the most popular technological supports
  • Preparation of teaching materials for in-person and virtual training.

Delivery of training intervention and specificity of presence/distance

  • Opening and use of icebreakers
  • The classroom pact
  • The fundamentals of virtual communication
  • Public speaking pills
  • The importance of participants’ feedback and listening skills.

Classroom group dynamics

  • Techniques for handling difficult participants, attention lapses, resistance to change, debriefing in exercises, and contrasts among participants
  • The handling of questions and objections.

Closing of a training intervention and evaluation of training

  • The design of instruments to detect feedback, learning and impact.
